Fashion Anklets

!: Fashion Anklets

Fashion anklets, ankle chains, or ankle bracelets are ornaments put on around the ankle. Anklets and toe rings historically have been used for centuries by unmarried women in India, though in the United States both casual and more formal anklets became fashionable in the late twentieth century. While in western popular culture both younger men and women may wear casual leather anklets, they are popular among normally barefoot women, and more formal anklets made up of silver, gold, beads are commonly part of fashion jewelery for women.

Much more rarely, the ankle chains are joined by a stretch of chain to limit the step. This practice was once more prevalent in the Middle East, where the effect was to give a 'feminine' short tripping step. Today a few western women follow this practice, but rarely in public. A very few people even have 'permanent', e.g. soldered-on, ankle chains, and more rarely still, so is the connecting chain.

Fashion anklets: Materials used for making fashion anklets

Fashion anklets can be made of silver, gold, and other types of less precious metals as well of materials such as leather, plastic, nylon and other such materials. In the western world anklets or ankle chains are mainly used by younger females, but some older women also wear them. Metal anklets are of two types - flexible and inflexible. The flexible ones, often called Pajeb or Jhanjhar in India, are made by tying links in a chain. Subsequently, sonorous bells can be attached to the chain, so that the wearer can make pleasing sounds while walking. Inflexible ones are usually created by giving shape to a flat metal sheet.

Fashion anklets: Styles of anklets

As with any other jewelery, price levels for anklets vary dramatically depending on the type, production methods, and materials. They are also an accessory item worn by a broad range of ages, from young girls to sophisticated women. There are thousands of designs and styles available in the ever-expanding marketplace. Popular types of anklets include, Beaded, Sterling Silver, Yellow Gold, White Gold, Pearl, Charm, Diamond, Gemstone, Birthstone, Coral, Turquoise, Crystal, Shell, Rhinestone, Cubic Zirconia, Nickle and Brass.

Fashion anklets: Guidelines for wearing anklets

Fashion anklets can be of the loose style or of the tight variety. The priority is to determine which style you want to go for and how it should fit you. Either the anklets can lay below the ankle bone or it can be kept above the ankle bone. Therefore choosing your style and size can be made easy by keeping a few simple things in mind. First, start by determining how you want to wear the ankle bracelet. Do you want it to sit above or below your ankle bone, would you like it to fit tightly or loosely? Keep in mind that the preference of the anklet can change depending upon the footwear that you are going to wear for a particular occasion as well as the general style of the anklet itself. When we talk about the style of the anklet, it may include things like the tightness, looseness of the anklet as well as the other associated paraphernalia like the hanging bead or crystal at the end of the anklet.

Fashion anklets: Anklets and the type of footwear

It is very important to ascertain whether you are planning to wear anklets with the sandals or the shoes. Depending on this both the style and size may vary. For example if you are planning to wear a beaded or crystal beaded anklet with your shoes then ideally it should be above your ankle bone otherwise the hanging bead or crystal can get inside your shoes and thus make you very uncomfortable for the occasion. So as we can see in this example that if you are using shoes then the beaded anklets should be above the ankles. On the other hand if this type of anklet is used with sandals or flip flops like footwear then it can be put below the ankle bone also. Today adjustable anklets are available in the market which can provide you greater flexibility and you can wear it either above or below the ankle bone either in a loose or tight form.

Fashion anklets: Measurements for anklets

Taking measurement of your ankle is very important before you go for shopping anklets. Using a soft tape is the best method to take measurements. To start with, you need to plan the style of anklet that you may most probably purchase. Further you need to decide in advance whether you are going to wear it with sandals or shoes. Once you have thought about the style and footwear preferences, it is time to take a few measurements to establish your size range. For measuring, you need to have a soft tape. The other method is to use a piece of string and a ruler. With the tape or the string you can measure the thickness of your legs above and below your ankle bone where you are planning to wear your anklet. If you are using the string to measure then through the ruler find out the actual measurement. The soft tape on the other hand will give you a direct measurement.

Fashion anklets: Various varieties of adjustable anklets

Finally make it a point to have variety. The market is full of varieties of anklets which are adjustable in nature and which can be used either above or below the ankle bone. These anklets can therefore be put on as per your choice and they will go with either the sandals or the shoes also. It is better to have a adjustable anklet rather than a fixed length anklet from any point of view. One problem with anklets is that after some time they naturally become loose and here you cannot do anything with a fixed type of anklet but if it is a adjustable type then you can readjust the length to make it tight or loose as per the need.

8 Beading Tips - How to Make Your Beading Projects Easy and Fun

!: 8 Beading Tips - How to Make Your Beading Projects Easy and Fun

Beading is a great way to let your creative side out. And some beading projects are very easy. You can easily make your own beaded necklace, bracelet or earrings. Here are several important tips for beginner beaders that will help you avoid common mistakes and make your beading projects easier and more fun.

1 Space your beads

Some types of beads especially semi-precious, Swarovski, glass and pearl beads require a spacer between them. You have two options - make a simple knot between your beads, or insert a decorative spacer. I prefer spacers, because they make the design more interesting. It is best to use silver or gold spacers with expensive beads - they won't loose the shine as they age.

2 Use a beading board

Before putting your beads on a wire lay them out on a jewelry layout board. You can buy these boards in any shop that sells, craft supplies, beads and beading tools. The board lets you see, how your design will work before you connect everything. If you don't have a board, use a plain light bath towel, so your beads don't scatter.

3 Don't let your beads roll

Even if you use a beading board, it is a good idea to cover the table you work on with a towel. Beads rolling all over the table can drive you crazy, but a towel will prevent it. Also, if you have a cat, cover your work with another towel, if you leave even for a few minutes. My cat can destroy hours of work in less then 30 seconds.

4 Cut enough string

If you are going to use knots, then cut the string 4 times longer than finished project plus a few extra inches, otherwise 2 times longer. Also you can fold your string twice or even four times, to make it stronger. This is particularly true if you use heavy glass beads and large beads.

5 String color is important

Your don't always have to use white string, buy a string that matches the color of your beads for this project. If you can't find a string in that particular shade, take a white one and dye it, any permanent marker would do the job.

6 Be careful - strings stretch

In my first beaded necklaces I always had this problem - you finish a necklace, than after a day of wearing it the string stretches and beads are no longer tight together, looks awful. To avoid this, after all the beads are on, hang your necklace for a day or so, than do the final knotting or attach clasps.

7 Secure the ends

Final knots are important, it is best to use square knots and tighten them firmly. Then apply some jewelers glue to your knots and only after that cut the loose ends

8 Be kind to your eyes

Beading for several hours can give you a bad eye strain, especially if you are working with seed beads. So always have a good light on, a desk lamp is best. Another useful tool would be a magnifying glass. It will also help keep your project neat and avoid small mistakes.

Happy beading!

Top 10 Fashion Mistakes You Must Avoid!

!: Top 10 Fashion Mistakes You Must Avoid!

Let us face it, when you go down to the mall or to a party in these trying times it seems that so many people are forgetting the basic fashion rules and consequently the talk of the night is about, "How in the world could she be so silly in putting that together?" Whether you like it or not, the world is a tough place and there is no industry tougher than the clothes you wear. If you do not want to be tarred as a fashion tragic then here are the Top 10 Fashions Mistakes you must avoid!

Mistake Number 1: Wearing the Wrong Size Clothes
So many people get this wrong. Always buy appropriate size clothing, if the clothing doesn't fit, simply don't wear it. If you are losing weight, then make sure you buy clothes that fit the size you are now. When buying clothes make sure that you check the sizing and make sure the size is suitable for you. There are different size charts around the world, for example medium in Asia is different to a medium in the USA and a medium in Europe.

Mistake Number 2: Wearing Clothes that are Unironed
You must never going into public looking wrinkled. This sends a message to the people around you that you are not proud of your appearance and who you are. It takes no more than 10 minutes to iron your clothes. Here is a quick tip: if you want to decrease the time it takes to iron your clothes, hang them up once you have worn them.

Mistake Number 3: Wearing to Many Colours
Wearing way to many different colours can totally confuse the appearance you wish to portray. Keep your colouring simple and plain. If you are unsure how to colour match your clothes look on the web or in high fashion magazines and they will show you the right look.

Mistake Number 4: A Visible Panty and Bra Line
Contrary to popular belief, it is not sexy or attractive to have a visible panty or bra line. Always buy lingerie that is going to suit the clothes that you are wearing. Make sure that if you are wearing a tight shirt that the bra is a low profile bra so that the straps don't leave a clear line.

Mistake Number 5: Choosing a Style that is not suitable for you
Each year we find a plethora of new styles shunted into the market by designers however many of the high fashion designs do not suit the standard women. Choose a style that is suitable for you, for example, if you are a plus size woman, maybe tight stretch pants are not suitable. Choose a track suit that has a generous fitting.

Mistake Number 6: Skirt too short
The key to looking sexy is to wear something that is flattering and shows your body curves but doesn't show too much. Whilst many people think that ultra short skirts are sexy for many people they are more of a turn off, than a turn on. Always we are skirt that portrays modesty whilst still accentuating the curvature of your body.

Mistake Number 7: Having way to many patterns on Your Clothes
Patterns are great but quite often people choose two different types of patterns and try to wear them together. For example, I have seen some people combine crosshatch patterns with stripes. This is a major mistake.

Mistake Number 8: Choosing the Wrong Accessories
Over accessorising an ensemble is as much a fashion mistake as under accessorising. Remember you are not a Christmas Tree, choose items that accentuate the fashion item. For example if you are wearing a plain black dress then a necklace of pearls and a pearl bracelet is an appropriate choice. It would not be appropriate to then add a broach as well.

Mistake Number 9: Shoes and Clothes not Matching
If you are wearing a full length dress then the most appropriate pair of shoes would be a low healed paid of shoes wear as if you were wearing a mid length to short skirt then a pair of high healed shoes would be appropriate. If would not be appropriate to wear a pair of sandshoes with a full length dress.

Mistake Number 10: Wearing Green and Red
Why ladies insist on doing this is beyond me. Wearing Green and Red together is a very poor choice. Always colour match to ensure the colours accentuate your look not make you look like a Christmas Tree. Green and Red unfortunately don't work together as colours.

How to Dress Classy With Little Cash

!: How to Dress Classy With Little Cash

1. Basics for Work- Keep good basics in your wardrobe that are truly timeless and will last the test of time and fashion trends. Key basics include black dress pants. Have about 3 good quality pairs. You will want at least one pair to have a pin stripe which will give your body some length and add variety, as well as one pair with a cuff on the bottom, and one without. All pairs should have a crease running down the leg for that dressy look. Avoid anything with pleats which is currently outdated and tends to make you appear larger in the frontal area anyhow. DO invest in good quality, but inexpensive tops such as short sleeved and ¾ length tops with Lycra (to keep their shape) in both v-neck and round neck styles. I recommend black, white and red, if you cannot wear red, perhaps gray. These are key for under blazers with pants and can also be worn with jeans on a casual Friday.

You will want 2 or 3 nice black skirts, a pencil skirt, or slight A-line, printed skirt and one that is more airy and fun. Dress shirts for women are more popular than ever. You will want to have some variety here. I recommend buying shirts that fit your shoulders and arm length properly and have a bit of Lycra or stretch fabric so you can move freely. These can be bought anywhere such as Winners, Ross for Less or department stores. Keep winter and summer colors. Important to any business wardrobe is the suit. You will need a black, navy and lighter color suit such as camel for summer. You can wear your blazer with your skirts too, no need to buy a skirt suit. When buying shoes keep the same in mind, find at least 3 comfortable pairs of shoes, perhaps a pair of flats, and 2 pairs of heels, one lower and the other a higher pump style. I don't believe in having all the colors of the rainbow on my shoe rack, especially when on a budget. Black and brown always work, throw in a pair of camel color for fun. The overall idea here is to have classic pieces that won't go out of style the last for years as to not constantly be buying clothes. I firmly believe in investing in these basic pieces so they'll last a long time. Look for sales, clearances and wander through thrift stores to find what you need to build your basic wardrobe.

2. Make Accessories Work for You- Whether they are shoes, sunglasses, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, belts, scarves, handbags or hairclips, find the ones that you love best and buy many at low cost shops. The key is to dress up a wardrobe many different ways without blowing your budget on pumps and expensive handbags. The best thing to do is buy all sorts of accessories for as little as you can. These keep your wardrobe interesting by adding color, texture, shape, and bling! A couple shops I love for this are Le Chateau, H&M and mall kiosks. I find the best inexpensive jewelry, trendy shoes and hair clips. Buy a bright orange or red handbag from Payless Shoe store for and pump up your black suit for work, or jeans and a t-shirt. Hollywood stars use the same tricks just on a different budget.

The best tip is to wear a great outfit with one or two accessories maximum that pop! My mother used to dress extremely well because she picked out accessories and clothing that looked great but cost next to nothing. This is because she looked in stores like K-Mart as she couldn't afford designer or even mall store prices. Put on a Blazer and jeans with a pair of cute flats and have one significant piece like a great necklace to really make your neckline pop. When hair is done up, this is the best time to show off shoulders and your neckline, so draw attention with some great earrings and necklace. Even a funky watch can jazz up an otherwise low-key outfit.

3. A Scarf Is Your Best friend- Scarves have so many uses that it is hard not to have any in your wardrobe. Scarves can act as a tie around your hair in a ponytail, tied around your neck, used as a belt around your waist or simply ties to the shoulder strap of your handbag for a flirty look. It is good to have variety. Black and Red are my favorites however I have some softer colors such as pale pink and beige with light brown in full stripes, polka-dots are very in right now also. The scarf belt goes great with a sexy top and pair of jeans. When you are bored with the pattern or color switch them up with your friend's for variety.

4. Focus on your Face- Even if you don't feel like your wardrobe looks like a million bucks, put on a smile. It goes a long way and brightens your face! A little makeup really makes a difference. The 3 essentials I would recommend are Mascara, Lipstick (or a great gloss) and some blush. This will add color to your face and make your features pop. I have never bought into the notion that Designer expensive makeup is best. I've used Cover girl my whole life and have always had compliments. Their products are ¼ the price of department store and I can buy them anywhere. The key is to keep the makeup simple and light. Don't wear heavy foundation and loose powers with bright lipstick and heavy eyeliner. The key is to look natural and elegant with the right light shade of blush and lipstick and a black/brown or black shade of mascara. Spend less money on makeup but spend more time on mastering a natural look that is even.

5. Buy Quality Shoes that Last -Always buy quality shoes that can last you 2-3%2B years. Ensure that they are a simple color and style, but more importantly that they have a good sole and heel lifts. Shoes aren't made the way they used to be. I find myself having to replace my lifts on most of my shoes since they are plastic. They wear down quickly causing potential accidents as you glide across floors in those heels. The shoe repair shop will put great quality lifts on and it is inexpensive. Replace these every year or as needed with wear so that the heels of your shoes stay looking new. In addition, shine your shoes regularly and buy scuff removing solution. A great pair of shoes can look like trash when they have not been taken care of.

If you really do crave something trendy then let it be for a particular outfit, or dress where the shoes will not be frequently worn. Why not get the knock-off style at Payless Shoe store or another discount shoe store? Then you'll get the style and price you want and don't have to worry so much about the durability.

6. No Tattered Undergarments! -Many women focus on their outer wardrobe and forget what is hiding underneath. It is important to frequently wash your bras as well as camisoles etc on delicate cycle. It is very unappealing to see a well dressed woman with a tattered, dirty bra strap peeking out of her top. Likewise, underwear and socks need to be replaced when stained or tattered having holes or elastic coming apart. This is not sexy for your partner or for yourself! I typically buy a bunch of inexpensive clearance rack panties that look like designer knock-offs with all the lacy styles. I usually pay around - per pair and they look great! If they get ruined in my washing machine or wear with time I can just toss them without thinking twice. While we are on the subject, ladies do buy bras that fit your cup properly and are seamless. There is nothing worse than a great blouse with seam lines or nipples showing!

7. Accessorize but don't overdo it-Classy women look classy because they don't overdo it. Wearing a great dress or outfit with a single ring, pair of small earrings and a small necklace is fine. Wearing a suit with a ring on every finger, watch, bracelet, heavy makeup, hair in an elaborate clip, a belt, a scarf around the neck and bright shoes is overkill. Nobody knows what to look at first! When you get ready to leave the house, look into a full length mirror with your entire outfit including a hat or handbag if included. You will often slowly start to strip a couple accessories away or tone down bold shoes and handbags. Remember, simple is best. Add one or two killer pieces that will have you feeling great and getting compliments along the way.

8. Don't be Afraid to Shop in Thrift Stores- I can't tell you how many things I've been able to snag there. The key is to go into an area that is more well-to-do or exclusive. Often people with a lot of money can discard things faster for new items such as great sweaters, blazers, handbags, you name it! My last purchase there was actually a set of hot rollers that retail at that I picked up for ! I bought an pair of great brown boots that were never worn for !! I'll admit, you have to make some time to sift through a lot of duds till you find a few keepers, but it is well worth it. Buy items that have their original bold color, no fading! Make sure there are no holes, or stains. If there is a small area that is inconspicuous, by all means grab the item if you can fix it. You can also find some fun handbags, belts and jewelry.

9. Wear clothes that Fit You!r Body- There is nothing worse than seeing a beautiful woman in skin tight dress pants, breasts hanging out, and the visible appearance of flab around the waist or back due to tight clothing. Looking slimmer is not about wearing more fitted clothing, clothing with breathing room and comfort will not only make you look better but feel better too. Classy women don't let it all hang out! If something in your wardrobe is too small but you love it, keep it until it does fit (maybe use it as motivation) and find something new.

10. You don't Need Brand Names to Look Good- Today with so many great knock-offs and fun styles to choose from, there is no need to spend 0 on a pair of designer sunglasses. I have a pair of Gucci knocks-offs that I bought in the airport, and have got more compliments on those than a real pair of Ralph Lauren shades. Likewise, people see how well your outfit is put together more so than they do what brand you are wearing. I see a lot of wealthy people wearing brand name overkill and they don't look classy, they look tacky. Don't be a walking billboard for a brand name, just be an original and wear what fits you and what you feel good in.

This article was inspired by many women that I have worked with, spent time with, seen walking the streets, and those that have told me that they simply don't have the money to dress well. If my mom in her early thirties could dress classy in K-Mart clothing and get compliments, you can too! You need an objective eye and patience to find what looks great on you. So, give your charge card a break and find out how fun it is to buy a few items with a bill!
